Check if your website content was stolen or duplicated
There is a lot of concern, and rightfully so, of content being duplicated on the worldwide web. Many less scrupulous copywriters will simply copy the work from other sites, make a few cosmetic changes, and submit it as their own. There are a few applications available to perform these checks, Copyscape and DupeFree Pro being two popular methods. Copyscape is entirely web-based, and DupeFree provides a suite of copy protection and analysis tools, which cover a broader range of content management.
For all around compatibility, Copyscape exists entirely on the web, and is functional from any operating system that can access the page. It offers a method to check for content duplication or plagiarism online. Simply enter the URL of the file to be checked, and wait for the page to be analyzed and checked for duplication on other sites, you’ll have an answer in a few seconds. You are only allowed a small number of free searches per month, and all you have to do is enter the URL into the Copyscape search bar. Searches after the free limit are 5 cents each, which is still reasonable for reliable content protection. For occasional search, or as a powerful online protection tool, Copyscape is both simple to use, and extremely efficient at content comparisons of text on websites. You may also purchase a premium membership, with unlimited searches each month, or have your site regularly checked for against web duplications.
For Windows users, another possibility is to use a duplicate checking program, such as DupeFree Pro. Available in both free and premium versions, DupeFree Pro compares select or random lines between your document and known search engine indexes, compare two documents side by side, and offer information such as keyword density. DupeFree Pro also provides LSI searches, which allows the selection of alternate, but related keywords. Designed for copywriters and website designers in mind, DupeFree Pro offers a range of utilities to make web creation easier.
For simplicity, and a focus one protecting intellectual property on the internet, Copyscape is an indispensable online tool. It serves one function, and does that efficiently and well. For frequent use, and to more generally analyze web content, an application such as DupeFree may be more suitable, but is not available for multiple OSes.

This is so true! I have been to so many websites that were using the exact same information. The pictures would be different sometimes, but the wording was identical! People spend a lot of time writing original content, and then someone comes along and steals it, and pretty soon it has been copied so many times that the first guy, the real author, is completely forgotten.
