Google ranking what is it?
Obviously, no one knows the exact algorithms used by google. But there are a good many things that successful SEM people say are important. Using keywords in the URL is thought to be one of the most important factors by many. Others focus on backlinks or using Meta-tags. All of these facets together paint a better picture of the complexity involved in a google PageRank.
Importance ranges in keyword placement reading from left to right. That is to say that the first word encountered is considered to be more valuable than the second, and so on. This makes it extremely important, when using keywords, to decide what the target words will be, and place them for highest consideration by the google bots.
Using keywords in a domain name ranks next highest. This can be a crucial part of SEM, regardless of where the ranking is made. Not only does your choice of domain name affect rankings, it also can have a substantial effect on visits to your site. If the URL will be prominently displayed in cross media promotions, keeping it short could mean gaining or losing business, but in a web-based setting, longer, more specific domain names provide better search engine rankings.
How keywords are placed within a page are thought to be important. Header, title, and description tags should be seeded well, in addition to a proper density within the document body. The meta tag can contain a good number of keywords, but all words in the meta tag should be contained in the body of the document, or it could be penalized as non-informative. Don’t repeat the same words over and over, or you risk having the page dismissed summarily.
And what about keyword densities? No one is entirely certain what is optimal, and the range is between 10-20% for all keywords. Any total density higher than 20% is likely to be rejected as spam. Optimum keyword density for each keyword should be at or below 6%, meaning that 3 keyword phrases each have a maximum combined density of 18%.
These are only the first few items considered to be important, and it is important to note that ALL of the factors, whether listed here or not, are “supposed” factors, because only the folks at Google know for sure. Other factors include such things as backlinks, and even the PageRank of other sites that a page links to.
In all, there around 100 total factors considered for google ranking. These form an informed basis that seems to work for aggressive SEO marketing. The only certainty is that as soon as everyone has the secrets of google marketing figured out, the rules will change again to prevent spam techniques from once more having free reign.
