Once you’ve begun to establish yourself on a site like Twitter, it is important to build a following, and then keep them. There are some tips that can make this easier, and we’ll mention the most important ones here.
- Limit Private Communication.
It saves you time and keeps everything consistent, if you keep your private communications to a minimum. Obviously, a certain percentage of your tweets will be private, but try to manage the ratio,m and keep it low. - Direct Messages Are For Communication.
Rather then sending out a broadcast to a thousand individuals, use direct messages to discuss details, not to promote business. - Do Not Overlink To Yourself.
You want your followers to link to you, but linking back to yourself can be very redundant. Avoid doing it more often than is necessary. - Respond.
If someone points a comment or question directly at you, respond to it. It is important that you are posting and responding to build your twitter network. Just lurking in the shadows won’t accomplish much. - Tweet Often, But Avoid Flooding.
It is a good idea to tweet often, but if you re doing so a dozen or more tiems an hour, you are making a nuisance of yourself, and doing what is commonly referred to as flooding. - Post Directly.
Visit the Twitter site, and post directly, rather than posting at some other location and then cross linking back to Twitter. - Be Casually Formal.
Talk to other people in plain language. Avoid using profanity, but also avoid being to plain. Avoid slang, as its meaning will differ according to where it is read, and that encourages miscommunication.

That makes a lot of sense, really. Everything you said here looks like the way a company should be promoted anywhere online or not./ People don’t like to have something forced on them all the time, and if you do that, it will make them not want to visit your site.
